Facilities: There are two buildings that have recently been constructed at Tiksi, a Weather Station and a Clean Air Facility.
Station Mission/Purpose: To serve as an Arctic Observatory site that will contribute atmospheric measurements to the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW), Baseline Surface Radiation Network (BSRN), and the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement programs as part of a long term IPY initiative.

New instruments heading to Tiksi: To see the details about new instrumentation shipped to Tiksi this fall, click here for English and here for Russian. The installation of these instruments, when complete, will include a Climate Reference Network (CRN) station and a Surface Baseline Radiation Network (BSRN) station.
Topography and History: Tiksi is
located in the Sakha Republic of northern Siberia. It is on the coast
of the Arctic Ocean and housed a weather station dating from 1932.
